Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Regulatory Support Officer to join our Business Compliance team in Port Macquarie. This pivotal role involves assisting in the interpretation and implementation of regulatory requirements, monitoring compliance activities, and preparing essential reports. You will play a key part in maintaining our robust governance framework, ensuring Westpac operates with integrity and adheres to all relevant financial services regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the interpretation and implementation of new and existing regulatory requirements relevant to the financial services industry.
  • Support the compliance team in monitoring business activities for adherence to internal policies and external regulations.
  • Prepare comprehensive compliance reports and documentation for internal stakeholders and external regulatory bodies.
  • Coordinate and facilitate timely responses to regulatory inquiries and internal/external audit requests.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all compliance activities, findings, and resolutions.
  • Provide administrative and analytical support to the broader compliance department.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of compliance training materials for business units.
  • Identify potential compliance risks and escalate issues appropriately to senior compliance officers.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with strong data analysis skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and proven analytical capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory information and guidelines.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A basic understanding of financial services regulations, particularly within the Australian context (e.g., ASIC, APRA).

Preferred Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Law, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience (2+ years) in a regulatory, risk, or compliance support role within the financial services industry.
  • Familiarity with specific Australian financial services legislation (e.g., Corporations Act, AML/CTF Act, Privacy Act).
  • Experience with compliance management software or reporting tools.
