Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and vigilant Public Pool Attendant with a strong commitment to lifeguarding and safety to join our team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all patrons using our aquatic facilities, responding to emergencies, and maintaining a clean and orderly environment. This position requires individuals who are proactive, excellent communicators, and hold current life-saving certifications. Key Responsibilities

  • Actively supervise swimming pools and surrounding areas to prevent accidents and ensure patron safety.
  • Enforce pool rules and regulations fairly and consistently.
  • Respond immediately and effectively to all emergencies, including water rescues and first aid incidents.
  • Administer CPR and first aid as necessary.
  • Assist with the setup and pack-down of equipment for aquatic programs and events.
  • Conduct regular safety checks of pool facilities, equipment, and water quality.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards of the pool deck, change rooms, and other designated areas.
  • Provide excellent customer service, answering patron questions and assisting as needed.
  • Complete incident reports accurately and promptly.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain certifications and skills.

Required Skills

  • Current AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety (TSW) qualification or equivalent.
  • Current Pool Lifeguard Award (Royal Life Saving Society or equivalent).
  • Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011 or equivalent).
  • Current CPR Certificate (HLTAID009 or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.
  • Excellent observation skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical fitness and endurance to meet the demands of lifeguarding duties.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a lifeguard or pool attendant.
  • Experience working in a public aquatic facility.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Bronze Medallion or higher life-saving award.
