Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Produce Pickers to join our Stanthorpe team. This role involves working in a dynamic fruit and vegetable market environment, with early morning starts. You will be responsible for accurately selecting, inspecting, and preparing fresh produce for distribution, ensuring only the highest quality items reach our customers. This is a hands-on role requiring physical fitness, attention to detail, and a commitment to food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately pick and pack a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables according to quality specifications and customer orders.
- Conduct visual inspections of produce for freshness, damage, and quality defects.
- Safely operate basic warehouse equipment (e.g., trolleys, pallet jacks) after training.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to all food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation as required.
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet daily picking targets and ensure timely dispatch.
- Adhere to all workplace health and safety procedures.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Reliability and punctuality, especially for early morning shifts.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety principles.
- Effective communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a produce, warehouse, or retail environment.
- Knowledge of different fruit and vegetable varieties and quality standards.
- Forklift license (though not essential for initial role, a plus for future growth).
- Current driver's license and own reliable transport.
