Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Hydroponics Intern to join our innovative team in Salinas, CA. This Modern Agriculture Mentorship program offers an unparalleled opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge hydroponic systems, plant science, and controlled environment agriculture. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will contribute to daily farm operations, learn about crop cycles, nutrient management, environmental controls, and data collection. This internship is designed for individuals passionate about sustainable food systems and eager to make a tangible impact in the agri-tech industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in daily crop management tasks, including planting, harvesting, and packaging.
- Monitor plant health, growth, and development, reporting observations to senior staff.
- Learn and apply best practices for nutrient solution preparation and management.
- Support the maintenance and sanitation of hydroponic systems and grow facilities.
- Contribute to data collection related to crop yield, environmental conditions, and plant performance.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to problem-solving and process improvements.
- Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene protocols.
- Engage in continuous learning about new hydroponic techniques and technologies.
Required Skills
- Strong interest in agriculture, horticulture, or environmental science.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and observational skills.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and reporting.
- Physical ability to stand, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks in a controlled environment.
- Reliable transportation to the Salinas facility.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in agriculture, biology, environmental science, or a related field.
- Prior experience (even volunteer) in gardening, farming, or laboratory settings.
- Basic understanding of hydroponics or plant physiology concepts.
