Job Description
Are you passionate about creating captivating retail spaces and bringing brands to life? Myer Mildura is seeking a highly motivated and creative Paid Retail Intern with a strong focus on Visual Merchandising. This hands-on internship offers an unparalleled opportunity to gain practical experience in a fast-paced retail environment, working alongside our experienced Visual Merchandising team. You will contribute to the aesthetic appeal of our store, learn industry best practices, and develop essential skills that will set the foundation for a successful career in retail visual merchandising.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the execution of visual merchandising displays and store layouts according to company guidelines and seasonal themes.
- Support the Visual Merchandising team in setting up promotions, window displays, and in-store signage.
- Learn to interpret visual merchandising directives and apply them effectively within the store.
- Maintain the presentation standards of merchandise, ensuring displays are always appealing and well-stocked.
- Assist with inventory management related to visual merchandising elements.
- Provide feedback and ideas to enhance store presentation and customer experience.
- Collaborate with sales associates and store management to ensure visual standards are met.
Required Skills
- Strong interest and passion for visual merchandising, retail, or fashion.
- Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic understanding of design principles and color theory.
- Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing priorities.
- Physical ability to lift and move merchandise and display fixtures as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree or diploma in Visual Merchandising, Fashion Design, Retail Management, or a related creative field.
- A strong portfolio (digital or physical) showcasing creative projects or previous visual work (even if academic).
- Previous experience in a retail environment (even part-time or volunteer).
