Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Paediatric Nurse to join our exceptional team at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide specialised nursing care to children of all ages, from infants to adolescents, in a fast-paced and rewarding environment. You will be instrumental in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care for our young patients, collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the best possible outcomes. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct, high-quality nursing care to paediatric patients, adhering to established protocols and standards.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, monitoring patient responses and adjusting care plans as needed.
- Assess patient conditions, interpret vital signs, and promptly recognise and respond to changes in health status.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care, ensuring clear understanding and active participation.
- Collaborate effectively with paediatricians, specialists, allied health professionals, and other nursing staff.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient medical records.
- Participate in emergency response and resuscitation efforts when required.
- Advocate for the needs of paediatric patients and their families, ensuring a patient-centred approach to care.
Required Skills
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Minimum of 2 years of post-registration clinical experience in paediatric nursing.
- Demonstrated ability to provide evidence-based, patient-centred care for children.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification or specialisation in paediatric nursing.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
- Experience within a major tertiary paediatric hospital setting.
