Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Occupational Health Intern with a strong focus on Workplace Safety to join our team in Byron Bay. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in developing and implementing safety protocols within a dynamic hospitality environment. You will support our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of health and safety for our staff and guests, contributing directly to a culture of prevention and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in conducting workplace hazard assessments and risk analyses across various departments.
- Support the development and delivery of safety training materials and awareness campaigns.
- Participate in incident investigations, documentation, and the implementation of corrective actions.
- Help maintain safety records, reports, and compliance documentation.
- Research best practices in occupational health and safety to inform continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to the creation and review of safety policies and procedures.
- Provide administrative support to the Occupational Health and Safety team.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) principles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- A genuine interest in workplace safety and employee well-being.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Public Health, or a related field.
- Prior volunteer or project experience related to safety or health initiatives.
- Knowledge of Australian OHS legislation and standards.
