Job Description

Are you passionate about conservation and eager to gain hands-on experience in park management? The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service is offering an exciting internship opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our team, focusing on ranger support. This role provides a unique chance to work alongside experienced park rangers, contributing to the daily operations, conservation efforts, and visitor services within Queensland’s stunning national parks. You will learn about ecological management, wildlife monitoring, infrastructure maintenance, and public engagement, all while working in some of Australia’s most beautiful natural environments. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist park rangers with routine patrols and monitoring activities.
  • Participate in ecological surveys, data collection, and wildlife observation.
  • Support maintenance of park infrastructure, trails, and facilities.
  • Aid in visitor engagement, providing information and ensuring compliance with park regulations.
  • Contribute to weed eradication and pest management programs.
  • Assist with administrative tasks and reporting related to park operations.
  • Learn and adhere to safety protocols and environmental management practices.

Required Skills

  • Strong interest in environmental conservation, wildlife, and outdoor recreation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Basic computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Valid driver's license (or willingness to obtain one).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree/diploma in Environmental Science, Conservation, Park Management, or a related field.
  • First Aid certification.
  • Experience with GPS or mapping software.
  • Knowledge of local flora and fauna.
