Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Medical Receptionist Intern to join our busy private practice in South Fremantle. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a professional medical setting, learning the vital administrative and patient-facing skills required to support the smooth operation of a private clinic. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will assist with front desk operations, patient scheduling, and general office duties, contributing directly to an excellent patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Assist with patient check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Help manage appointment scheduling and maintain physician calendars.
  • Answer incoming calls, direct them appropriately, and take accurate messages.
  • Process patient information and update electronic health records (EHR) with supervision.
  • Assist with general office tasks such as filing, scanning, and data entry.
  • Maintain the waiting area in a tidy and organised state.
  • Learn about patient confidentiality and privacy protocols (HIPAA/APP).
  • Support the administrative team with various tasks as needed.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Previous experience in a customer service role is a plus.
