Job Description
GHD is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Landscape Architecture Intern to join our dynamic Civil Space Planning team in Port Hedland, Western Australia. This is an incredible opportunity for a student or recent graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in the design and planning of public spaces, urban environments, and sustainable landscapes within a leading global consultancy. You will work alongside experienced professionals on a variety of projects, contributing to meaningful community development and environmental stewardship. This internship is designed to provide practical experience, mentorship, and a solid foundation for a career in landscape architecture and civil space planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of landscape design plans, sketches, and presentations.
- Conduct site analysis and research on local environmental conditions, regulations, and community needs.
- Contribute to the development of conceptual designs and detailed design solutions for public spaces, parks, and urban developments.
- Support the team in preparing tender documents and project reports.
- Utilize CAD and other design software to produce high-quality drawings and visualisations.
- Participate in client meetings and stakeholder engagements as required.
- Research and apply best practices in sustainable landscape design and water-sensitive urban design.
- Maintain organized project files and documentation.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Landscape Architecture, Urban Planning, or a related field.
- Basic proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
- Strong understanding of design principles and plant knowledge relevant to Australian conditions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and take direction.
- Demonstrated passion for sustainable design and public space development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with 3D modeling software (e.g., SketchUp, Rhino).
- Familiarity with GIS software.
- Previous internship or volunteer experience in a related field.
- Knowledge of local government planning schemes in Western Australia.
