Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous Inventory Control Clerk to join our team in Shepparton. This role is critical for maintaining accurate stock levels and ensuring the smooth flow of goods within our distribution centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting inventory counts, investigating discrepancies, and updating inventory records. This is a hands-on role requiring shift work and a keen eye for detail. Please note: This position does not involve customer service or phone communication; it is focused purely on data and physical inventory management.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular cycle counts and full physical inventory counts.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, including shortages, overages, and damaged goods.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using our warehouse management system (WMS).
- Generate and analyze inventory reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Assist with goods receiving, dispatch, and internal transfers as needed.
- Ensure all inventory transactions are accurately recorded and processed in a timely manner.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to optimize inventory flow.
Required Skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience in inventory control, warehousing, or a related field.
- Proficiency in using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Forklift license (LF) or willingness to obtain one.
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Prior experience in a large-scale distribution or logistics environment.
- Knowledge of inventory best practices and lean principles.
