Job Description

We are offering a unique Internship opportunity for a motivated Legal Junior to join our in-house legal team in Gladstone. This paid internship will provide invaluable hands-on experience in a dynamic corporate legal environment, focusing on research, documentation, and support for a range of legal matters pertinent to our operations. The intern will work closely with experienced legal professionals, gaining exposure to corporate law, environmental regulations, contracts, and compliance within the mining and resources sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct legal research on various topics, including environmental regulations, commercial law, and corporate governance.
  • Assist in the preparation of legal documents, reports, and presentations.
  • Support the legal team in contract review and management processes.
  • Maintain and update legal databases and document management systems.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to ongoing legal projects.
  • Aid in ensuring compliance with internal policies and external legal requirements.
  • Provide general administrative support to the legal department as needed.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) program.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in corporate law, environmental law, or the resources industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of core legal subjects such as Contracts, Torts, Property, and Constitutional Law.
  • Prior experience with legal research databases (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw).
  • Availability to commit to the internship for a minimum of 3-6 months.
  • A foundational understanding of the Australian legal system.
