Job Description
GHD is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Hydrogeologist with a strong focus on water management to join our dynamic team in Port Lincoln, South Australia. This role involves contributing to critical water resource projects, environmental impact assessments, and sustainable water management strategies across regional South Australia. The successful candidate will apply their expertise in groundwater modelling, hydrogeological investigations, and regulatory compliance to deliver impactful solutions for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct hydrogeological investigations, including field data collection (groundwater sampling, bore logging, aquifer testing).
- Develop and calibrate conceptual and numerical groundwater models.
- Assess groundwater resources, quality, and potential impacts from various developments.
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, proposals, and presentations.
- Provide expert advice on water resource management, dewatering, and environmental approvals.
- Ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations and water policies.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory bodies.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in hydrogeology, specifically with a water management focus.
- Proficiency in groundwater modelling software (e.g., MODFLOW, FEFLOW, PEST).
- Strong understanding of Australian water resource management principles and legislation (e.g., SA Water Act).
- Demonstrated experience in field investigation techniques, including drilling supervision and aquifer test design.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid Australian driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) for data analysis and visualisation.
- Chartered professional status (e.g., RPEQ, CEnvP).
- Experience in remote sensing applications for water resource assessment.
- Knowledge of contaminated land assessment and remediation.
