Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Health & Safety Data Analyst with a strong focus on Work Health and Safety (WHS) to join our team in Gympie, Queensland. This ongoing role is critical in supporting our commitment to maintaining a world-class safety culture. You will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting on WHS data, identifying trends, and providing actionable insights to enhance our safety performance across various projects and operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing data-driven strategies to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with WHS legislation and company policies. Key Responsibilities
- Collect, validate, and maintain accurate WHS data from various sources, including incident reports, audits, inspections, and training records.
- Perform in-depth analysis of WHS data to identify trends, patterns, and root causes of incidents and hazards.
- Develop, prepare, and present comprehensive WHS performance reports, dashboards, and visualizations for internal stakeholders at all levels.
- Collaborate with WHS managers and operational teams to interpret data findings and support the development of targeted safety improvement initiatives.
- Monitor key WHS performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular updates on progress against safety targets.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy within WHS management systems.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of WHS data collection, analysis, and reporting processes.
- Stay up-to-date with relevant WHS legislation, standards, and best practices to ensure compliance and inform data analysis.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a data analyst role, preferably with a focus on WHS or EHS.
- Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Microsoft Excel (advanced), Power BI, or Tableau.
- Strong understanding of statistical analysis and data modeling principles.
- Experience with WHS management systems and databases.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to communicate complex data insights clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with Australian Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation and standards.
- Tertiary qualification in Data Science, Statistics, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related quantitative field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the construction, infrastructure, or heavy industry sector.
- Proficiency in SQL or other database query languages.
- Experience with predictive analytics relating to safety outcomes.
- Certification in WHS (e.g., Certificate IV or Diploma in WHS).
