Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Fund Accountant to join our Investment Services team in Rockhampton. This entry-level role is ideal for recent graduates or individuals with foundational accounting knowledge looking to build a career in the investment management sector. You will be responsible for supporting the accurate and timely financial reporting for a portfolio of investment funds, working closely with senior team members to ensure compliance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for various investment funds.
  • Reconcile cash, investment positions, and other balance sheet accounts daily and monthly.
  • Process and verify transactions including trades, corporate actions, and income distributions.
  • Support the audit process by providing required documentation and explanations.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including portfolio management, operations, and compliance.
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects to improve fund accounting processes and efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship or work experience in financial services or accounting.
  • Familiarity with investment products and fund structures.
  • Experience with fund accounting software (e.g., InvestOne, HiPortfolio).
  • Progress towards professional accounting qualification (CPA or CA).
