Job Description
As a Food Service Assistant with Bupa Aged Care Australia in Emerald, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the daily lives of our residents and patients. You will be responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, and ensuring a positive dining experience. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals, snacks, and beverages according to dietary requirements and menu plans.
- Serve meals to residents and patients with a focus on presentation, timeliness, and individual preferences.
- Ensure all food service areas, including dining rooms and kitchens, are clean, organised, and meet high hygiene standards.
- Monitor food temperatures and ensure safe food handling practices are consistently followed.
- Assist with dishwashing, pot washing, and general kitchen duties.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, food safety concerns, or maintenance issues promptly.
- Communicate effectively with residents, patients, staff, and visitors, maintaining a friendly and respectful demeanor.
- Adhere to all Bupa Aged Care policies and procedures, including those related to WHS, infection control, and privacy.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in food service or hospitality, preferably within a healthcare or aged care environment.
- Strong understanding of food hygiene and safety principles (HACCP knowledge desirable).
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability and strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and adapt to changing resident needs.
- Current Food Handling Certificate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or Hospitality.
- Experience working with special dietary requirements (e.g., texture modified diets, allergies).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Previous experience in a similar role within a hospital or aged care facility.
