Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Financial Data Analyst to join our Investment Banking division, focusing on Australian Rates. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for extracting, transforming, and analyzing complex financial data to provide actionable insights that drive strategic decisions within our rates trading and sales teams. You will work with a diverse set of data sources, build robust analytical models, and present findings to senior stakeholders. Key Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, and validate large datasets related to Australian interest rates, bonds, and other fixed income instruments.
- Develop and maintain financial models, reports, and dashboards to support trading strategies and risk management.
- Perform in-depth statistical analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities within the Aussie rates market.
- Collaborate with traders, sales, and quantitative analysts to understand data requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
- Automate data extraction and reporting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Prepare presentations and communicate complex analytical findings clearly and concisely to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ensure data integrity and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Stay abreast of market developments, data science techniques, and regulatory changes affecting the fixed income landscape.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of experience as a Data Analyst or similar role in financial services, preferably investment banking or fixed income.
- Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial functions, VBA).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Solid understanding of financial markets, particularly fixed income, interest rates, and bond mathematics.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Proficiency in Python or R for statistical analysis and data modeling.
- CFA or equivalent professional certification.
- Experience with large financial datasets and data warehousing concepts.
- Knowledge of Australian financial regulations and market conventions.
