Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart a career in a critical safety role within the construction and civil engineering industry? Downer Group is seeking an enthusiastic and vigilant individual to join our team as an Excavator Spotter in Broome, Western Australia. This entry-level position is perfect for someone with a keen eye for detail and a strong commitment to workplace safety. Full training will be provided to ensure you are equipped with all the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in this essential role. You will be responsible for providing crucial visual guidance to excavator operators, ensuring the safe movement of heavy machinery and protection of personnel on site. Key Responsibilities
- Provide clear and constant visual guidance to excavator operators during all machine movements.
- Maintain constant communication with operators using agreed signals and communication devices.
- Monitor the immediate work area for personnel, obstacles, and potential hazards.
- Assist in the safe positioning of excavators and other heavy machinery.
- Ensure all site safety protocols and procedures are strictly followed.
- Identify and report any unsafe conditions or practices immediately to supervisors.
- Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Contribute to a positive safety culture on site.
- Adhere to all company policies and WHS regulations.
Required Skills
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
- Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions.
- Hold a valid Australian driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Previous experience in a similar outdoor or industrial environment (not mandatory, training provided)
- First Aid certification
