Job Description

Join Kmart Australia as an Ethical Sourcing Coordinator and play a crucial role in upholding our commitment to responsible and ethical trade practices across our global supply chain. This position is vital for ensuring that our products are sourced and manufactured under fair labor conditions and with minimal environmental impact. You will collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to implement and monitor our ethical sourcing policies, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and help us maintain our reputation as a socially responsible retailer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and evaluate supplier compliance with Kmart's ethical sourcing standards and code of conduct.
  • Conduct risk assessments on new and existing suppliers, identifying potential ethical and social compliance issues.
  • Coordinate and review ethical audits, ensuring corrective action plans are implemented effectively.
  • Collaborate with merchandising, supply chain, and quality assurance teams to embed ethical sourcing principles.
  • Prepare regular reports on ethical sourcing performance, challenges, and progress for internal stakeholders.
  • Stay informed on industry best practices, emerging risks, and relevant legislation in ethical trade.
  • Support the development and delivery of training programs for suppliers and internal teams on ethical sourcing.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, International Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in ethical sourcing, social compliance, or sustainability within a retail or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of international labor standards, human rights, and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel internationally as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ethical audit methodologies (e.g., SMETA, BSCI) and corrective action management.
  • Knowledge of modern slavery legislation and reporting requirements (e.g., Australian Modern Slavery Act).
  • Certification in ethical trade or sustainable supply chain management.
  • Fluency in an additional language relevant to Kmart's sourcing regions (e.g., Mandarin, Vietnamese).
