Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Scientist to join our dynamic team in Springfield Lakes, Queensland. This role focuses on delivering environmental solutions for a diverse range of mining and civil infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for conducting environmental assessments, monitoring programs, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of environmental legislation, excellent field skills, and a proven ability to manage multiple project tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and preparing environmental management plans (EMPs) for mining and civil projects.
- Performing field investigations, including soil, water, and air quality sampling, ecological surveys, and site assessments.
- Analysing environmental data and preparing technical reports, memos, and presentations.
- Ensuring project compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and client specifications.
- Liaising with clients, regulators, stakeholders, and project teams.
- Providing environmental advice and support throughout all project phases, from planning to construction and operation.
- Assisting with proposal preparation and business development activities.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in environmental consulting, with a focus on mining and/or civil infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Australian environmental legislation (e.g., EPBC Act, state-specific acts in Queensland).
- Proficiency in environmental data analysis and report writing.
- Strong field skills, including the ability to conduct site assessments and manage sampling programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Experience with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS).
- Familiarity with environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001).
- Certification in specific environmental specialisations (e.g., CEnvP).
- Project management experience in a consulting environment.
