Job Description

As an Environmental Health Assistant – Food & Safety at Coles Group, you will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation and monitoring of our robust food safety and environmental health programs. Working closely with the Environmental Health team, you will assist in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards across our retail operations in Osborne Park and surrounding areas. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about public health and food safety to contribute to a leading Australian company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting regular food safety and hygiene inspections of store premises, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Support the documentation and record-keeping of food safety audits, incidents, and corrective actions.
  • Aid in the investigation of food safety complaints and incidents, gathering evidence and contributing to resolution plans.
  • Help develop and deliver food safety training materials and awareness programs for store team members.
  • Monitor and report on compliance with environmental health policies, including waste management and pest control.
  • Collaborate with store management to ensure timely implementation of food safety improvements and regulatory updates.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant food safety legislation, standards, and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated understanding of food safety principles and practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and observational abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Current Australian driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate IV in Food Science, Environmental Health, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in a food safety or quality assurance role within retail or food service.
  • Knowledge of HACCP principles.
