Job Description
CPB Contractors is seeking a dedicated and skilled Electrical Engineering Technician – Civil to join our dynamic team on a key civil infrastructure project in Berri, South Australia. This role involves supporting electrical systems design, installation, maintenance, and testing within civil engineering contexts. You will work closely with civil engineers and project managers to ensure electrical components integrate seamlessly with overall project designs, adhering to safety standards and project specifications. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design, drafting, and specification of electrical systems for civil infrastructure projects.
- Conduct on-site inspections, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment and installations.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues, diagnose faults, and perform necessary repairs or coordinate with specialist contractors.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with Australian standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of electrical systems, including drawings, manuals, and maintenance logs.
- Collaborate with civil engineering teams, project managers, and other technicians to ensure project integration and success.
- Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and material requisitions for electrical components.
- Oversee the work of junior technicians and electrical apprentices, providing guidance and support.
- Implement and monitor safety procedures related to electrical work on construction sites.
Required Skills
- Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Proven experience as an Electrical Engineering Technician, particularly within civil construction or infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of Australian electrical standards (e.g., AS/NZS 3000) and safety regulations
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Hands-on experience with electrical testing equipment and troubleshooting techniques
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Valid Australian driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) for electrical design
- Electrical license or accreditation in South Australia
- Experience with renewable energy systems or smart infrastructure solutions
