Job Description
Are you passionate about animals and eager to kickstart a career in pet care? Petbarn Rockingham is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Dog Grooming Offsider to join our professional grooming team. This entry-level role is perfect for individuals with little to no experience, offering extensive on-the-job training to develop essential dog grooming and animal care skills. You will work closely with experienced groomers, assisting in various tasks and learning the intricacies of dog grooming, from bathing and drying to basic styling and health checks. This is a unique opportunity to learn from the best in a supportive and friendly environment, making a real difference in the lives of pets and their owners.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior groomers with bathing, drying, and de-shedding dogs of all breeds and sizes.
- Learn and practice safe and humane animal handling techniques.
- Maintain a clean and organised grooming salon, including equipment sterilisation and general tidiness.
- Prepare dogs for grooming appointments, including brushing and nail trims under supervision.
- Observe and learn various grooming techniques and breed-specific styles.
- Provide exceptional customer service, interacting positively with pet owners.
- Support inventory management for grooming supplies.
Required Skills
- A genuine passion for dogs and animal welfare.
- Eagerness to learn and develop new skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina to handle dogs and perform standing/lifting tasks.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience interacting with animals (e.g., volunteer work, pet ownership) is a plus but not essential.
- Basic understanding of dog behaviour and body language.
- First Aid certification for animals (or willingness to obtain).
