Job Description
We are actively seeking motivated and reliable individuals to join our team as Dockhands in Gladstone. This is an urgent opening for a pivotal role within our logistics operations. As a Dockhand, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe movement of freight, ensuring timely loading and unloading of goods, and maintaining an organized and secure dock area. This role is crucial to our daily operations, contributing directly to our service delivery excellence. Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload freight using various equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks (training provided if necessary).
- Sort, segregate, and stage freight for outbound and inbound shipments.
- Inspect freight for damage and accurately record any discrepancies.
- Perform routine safety checks on equipment and maintain a clean and organised work area.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding freight status and operational needs.
- Assist with inventory management and cycle counts as required.
- Operate in a physically demanding environment, handling various types of goods.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy items (up to 25kg regularly).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for reading manifests and recording data.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehousing, logistics, or dock environment.
- Forklift license (LF) or willingness to obtain one.
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Current driver's license.
