Job Description

Barwon Health is offering an invaluable Dietetics Intern placement within our dynamic Hospital Food Service Department. This internship is designed for aspiring dietitians seeking practical experience in a clinical food service environment. You will gain hands-on experience in menu planning, food safety, patient meal ordering systems, and quality improvement initiatives, all under the direct supervision of experienced dietitians and food service managers. Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and review of hospital menus to ensure nutritional adequacy and compliance with dietary guidelines.
• Participate in food safety audits and adhere to strict hygiene and sanitation protocols.
• Learn and assist with patient meal ordering systems, including special dietary requirements and allergy management.
• Support the dietetics team in patient education materials related to food service.
• Contribute to quality improvement projects aimed at enhancing patient meal satisfaction and food service efficiency.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff, dietitians, and nursing staff to ensure seamless meal delivery.
• Conduct basic nutritional assessments under supervision as required.

Required Skills

• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited Dietetics program.
• Strong understanding of nutrition principles and food science.
