Job Description
Join GrainCorp as a Customs Documentation Officer, specializing in federal trade regulations. This role is pivotal in ensuring the smooth and compliant export of agricultural commodities. You will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and submitting all necessary customs documentation, adhering to Australian federal trade laws and international agreements. Your expertise will be vital in navigating complex trade requirements and facilitating efficient logistics operations for our global supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process all customs documentation for export shipments, including declarations, permits, and certificates of origin.
- Ensure strict compliance with Australian Border Force (ABF) regulations, federal trade agreements, and international shipping standards.
- Verify accuracy and completeness of shipping manifests, invoices, and other supporting documents.
- Liaise with internal logistics, sales, and operations teams, as well as external freight forwarders, customs brokers, and government agencies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in customs laws, tariffs, and trade regulations.
- Resolve any discrepancies or issues related to customs clearances and documentation.
- Maintain organized and accessible records of all customs-related activities.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in customs documentation or international trade compliance.
- Strong understanding of Australian customs legislation (e.g., Customs Act 1901) and federal trade policies.
- Proficiency in customs software systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in International Trade, Logistics, or a related field.
- Customs Broker's Licence or Certificate IV in International Freight Forwarding/Customs Broking.
- Experience with agricultural commodity exports.
- Familiarity with Incoterms 2020.
