Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and vigilant individuals to join the Australian Border Force as Customs Border Support staff in Coffs Harbour. This vital role involves assisting in the enforcement of Australian customs and immigration laws, ensuring border security, and facilitating legitimate trade and travel. You will play a crucial part in protecting Australia’s borders, working within a dynamic federal government environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the inspection and processing of cargo, luggage, and postal items.
- Support frontline officers in monitoring and screening individuals arriving and departing Australia.
- Verify documentation and identify suspicious activities or non-compliance.
- Operate and maintain border security equipment, including scanners and surveillance systems.
- Provide administrative support to customs and immigration operations.
- Adhere to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and the public.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and secure working environment.
Required Skills
- Excellent observational and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Physical fitness to perform duties which may include standing for long periods and lifting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a security, law enforcement, or administrative role.
- Knowledge of Australian customs or immigration legislation.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
- First Aid certification.
