Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Disability Day-Program Helper to join our community-focused team in Bundaberg. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting individuals with disabilities to participate in engaging day programs and community activities, fostering their independence, social connection, and overall well-being. This is a vital position for someone passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of others, promoting inclusion, and building a stronger, more supportive community.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with disabilities to participate in planned day program activities, both on-site and within the community.
- Provide personal care and support as needed, respecting individual dignity and privacy.
- Facilitate communication and social interaction among program participants.
- Support individuals to achieve their personal goals and develop new skills.
- Transport participants to and from activities using company vehicles.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of participant progress and support provided.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and organisational policies and procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, families, and other stakeholders.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated commitment to person-centred care and supporting individuals with disabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Valid Australian Driver's License and willingness to use company vehicles.
- Successful completion of a National Police Check and Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III or IV in Disability, Community Services, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a disability support role or similar community-based position.
- Knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
