Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Part-Time Community Transport Driver to join our team in Ulverstone. In this vital role, you will provide safe and friendly transportation services to local seniors, enabling them to attend appointments, social outings, shopping trips, and other essential community activities. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys interacting with people, has a strong sense of community, and is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of older Tasmanians. You will be a crucial link, helping to maintain independence and reduce social isolation for our valued clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport seniors to various destinations including medical appointments, social events, and shopping centres.
  • Assist passengers with boarding and alighting the vehicle, including managing mobility aids if required.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-maintained vehicle, reporting any issues promptly.
  • Adhere to all road safety regulations and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with clients, ensuring a positive and comfortable experience.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks and mileage records.
  • Handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Represent Anglicare Tasmania positively within the community.

Required Skills

  • Valid Australian Driver's Licence (minimum P2 classification)
  • Clean driving record and ability to provide a traffic history report.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient and empathetic approach.
  • Ability to assist clients with varying mobility levels.
  • Good geographical knowledge of Ulverstone and surrounding areas.
  • Commitment to client safety and well-being.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar community transport or aged care role.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
  • National Police Check (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) check (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance checks.
