Job Description
Join our dedicated team at Greencross Vets, where you’ll play a vital role in providing a comfortable and caring environment for our feline guests. As a Part-time Cattery Hand, you’ll be responsible for the daily well-being of cats in our care, ensuring their comfort, cleanliness, and happiness. This role involves routine tasks perfect for someone who loves animals and is looking for consistent part-time day shifts in an easy-going yet rewarding environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily feeding and watering of cats according to their specific dietary needs.
- Cleaning and sanitizing cat enclosures, litter boxes, and common areas.
- Monitoring the health and behavior of all cats, reporting any concerns to senior staff.
- Providing gentle handling, socialisation, and enrichment for feline guests.
- Administering medications as instructed by veterinary staff (training provided).
- Maintaining cleanliness and order in the cattery facility.
- Assisting with client check-ins and check-outs for boarding cats.
Required Skills
- Genuine love and passion for cats and animal welfare.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work independently.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Comfortable with physical tasks including bending, lifting (up to 10kg), and standing for extended periods.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an animal care setting (e.g., cattery, shelter, pet-sitting) is a plus but not essential.
- Basic knowledge of feline behavior and health.
- First Aid certification for animals (or willingness to obtain).
