Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated Casual Instructors to deliver engaging day-shift programs in Ballina. This role involves leading various activities, from fitness classes and sports programs to educational workshops and community events, catering to diverse age groups and abilities. The ideal candidate will be passionate about inspiring participants, ensuring a safe and fun environment, and embodying the YMCA’s values of honesty, respect, caring, and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and safe instructional sessions across various programs (e.g., fitness, sports, aquatic activities, youth programs).
- Adapt instruction methods to suit the diverse needs and abilities of participants, promoting an inclusive environment.
- Ensure adherence to all safety protocols, regulations, and YMCA policies and procedures.
- Provide clear demonstrations, feedback, and encouragement to participants to facilitate learning and skill development.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, program progress, and any incidents.
- Communicate effectively with participants, parents/guardians, and fellow staff members.
- Act as a positive role model, upholding the values and mission of YMCA Australia.
Required Skills
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Relevant instructor qualifications or certifications in areas such as fitness, sports coaching, or youth leadership.
- Demonstrated experience in leading groups or instructing in a recreational or educational setting.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A genuine passion for community well-being and participant development.
- Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain one).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications in specific fitness disciplines (e.g., Group Fitness, Pilates, Yoga) or sports coaching.
- Experience working with diverse age groups, including children, youth, and adults.
- Experience in a not-for-profit or community-focused organization.
- Additional language skills.
