Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Bridge Maintenance Hand to join our Civil Government Infrastructure team in Melbourne. This role involves performing essential maintenance tasks on bridges and associated structures, ensuring their safety, longevity, and compliance with government standards. You will work as part of a skilled team, contributing to the upkeep of vital public infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the inspection, repair, and maintenance of bridge structures and components.
- Perform general labouring tasks including cleaning, painting, minor concrete repairs, and vegetation control around bridge sites.
- Operate basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, work instructions, and environmental regulations.
- Set up and manage traffic control measures around work sites as required.
- Report any structural defects or safety hazards identified during maintenance activities.
- Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient project completion.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated experience in a labouring or maintenance role, preferably within civil construction or infrastructure.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of tools and equipment used in construction or maintenance.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WHS procedures.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
- White Card (Construction Induction Card).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with bridge maintenance or similar infrastructure projects.
- Experience in traffic control (e.g., traffic controller qualification).
- Basic first aid certification.
- Experience operating small plant equipment (e.g., elevated work platforms, bobcats).
