Job Description
We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Antarctic Research Support Officer within a federal division role based in Armidale. This crucial position provides administrative, logistical, and operational support to ongoing Antarctic research programs, expeditions, and scientific personnel. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth functioning of our research efforts, from coordinating equipment and supplies to managing data and communication channels. This role requires a proactive approach, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to supporting critical scientific endeavours in a challenging global environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate logistics for Antarctic research projects, including equipment procurement, shipping, and inventory management.
- Provide administrative support to scientific staff, including travel arrangements, expense processing, and scheduling.
- Assist with data management, including input, organisation, and retrieval of research-related information.
- Act as a communication liaison between field teams, headquarters, and external stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records and databases related to project progress, personnel, and resources.
- Prepare reports, presentations, and correspondence as required.
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations, safety protocols, and environmental guidelines related to Antarctic operations.
- Support the onboarding and orientation of new research personnel.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in an administrative, logistical, or project support role.
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy.
- Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
