Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Anaesthetic Technician to join our dynamic perioperative team at Armidale Private Hospital. In this essential role, you will work closely with Anaesthetists and surgical teams to provide technical support and patient care during anaesthetic procedures across various specialties. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient outcomes within a leading private healthcare provider.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, check, and maintain anaesthetic equipment, including anaesthetic machines, monitoring devices, and suction apparatus.
- Assist the Anaesthetist during induction, maintenance, and emergence from anaesthesia, including managing airways and providing medication as directed.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and other physiological parameters under the supervision of the Anaesthetist.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with anaesthetic equipment quickly and efficiently.
- Ensure aseptic technique is maintained throughout procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment use, maintenance, and patient information.
- Participate in stock management and ordering of anaesthetic supplies.
- Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Provide technical expertise and support to medical and nursing staff.
Required Skills
- Certificate IV in Anaesthetic Technology or equivalent qualification.
- Current registration with AHPRA (or eligibility for registration if international).
- Minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience as an Anaesthetic Technician.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to patient safety and high standards of care.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies calmly and efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification.
- Experience in a private hospital setting.
- Familiarity with various anaesthetic techniques and surgical specialties.
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems.
