Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and empathetic Aged Care Support Workers to join our team at our state-of-the-art facility in Fitzroy. This facility-based role is crucial in providing direct personal care, support, and companionship to our residents, helping them to maintain their independence and enjoy a dignified life. As a key member of our care team, you will contribute to a positive and nurturing atmosphere, working closely with residents, their families, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of care are met. Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Support residents with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
- Engage residents in social, recreational, and therapeutic activities to promote well-being and interaction.
- Monitor and report changes in residents' physical, emotional, or cognitive conditions to nursing staff.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.
- Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
- Accurately document care provided and observe resident responses in accordance with facility policies.
Required Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong empathy, patience, and a compassionate nature.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping.
- Understanding of the principles of person-centred care.
- Physical capability to assist with resident transfers and mobility aids.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care) or equivalent.
- Previous experience in an aged care facility or similar healthcare setting.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- A valid Australian driver's license.
