Job Description

Join our dedicated team as an Aged Care Support worker within a public government facility in Footscray. You will play a vital role in providing direct care and support to elderly residents, helping them maintain their independence and quality of life. This position requires a compassionate individual with excellent communication skills and a commitment to person-centred care. You will work within a supportive team environment, adhering to all relevant government standards and regulations, to ensure the highest level of care is delivered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with personal care activities, including showering, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
  • Support residents with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
  • Administer medication under supervision and according to established protocols.
  • Engage residents in social activities, therapeutic programs, and community outings.
  • Monitor and report changes in residents' health or well-being to senior staff.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident records and documentation.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for residents.
  • Adhere to all council policies, procedures, and aged care standards.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and other care team members.

Required Skills

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in aged care or a similar support role (minimum 6 months).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC) and National Police Check.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Understanding of person-centred care principles.
  • Physical ability to assist residents with mobility and manual handling tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a public or government-funded aged care facility.
  • Knowledge of relevant aged care legislation and regulations.
  • Fluency in a second language relevant to the local community.
  • Current driver's license and access to reliable transport.
