Job Description
Join our vibrant team at Goodstart Early Learning in Lismore as an After School Care Assistant. This role is perfectly suited for university students looking for meaningful part-time work that fits around their studies. You will play a crucial role in supervising and engaging with children in our after-school program, ensuring a safe, fun, and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise children during after-school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Plan and facilitate engaging activities, games, and creative projects appropriate for various age groups.
- Assist children with homework and provide educational support as needed.
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment where children feel valued and encouraged.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding children's daily activities and progress.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe play environment.
- Adhere to all Goodstart Early Learning policies and procedures, including child protection guidelines.
Required Skills
- Genuine passion for working with children and supporting their development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage and manage groups of children effectively.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Reliability and strong time management skills.
- Current Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain one).
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a university degree, particularly in education, psychology, social work, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a childcare, school, or recreational setting (e.g., babysitting, camp counselor).
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of child development principles.
