Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and reliable Abattoir Cleaners to join our team for casual night shifts at our Port Hedland facility. This critical role involves ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene across all areas of the abattoir, contributing directly to food safety and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough cleaning and sanitisation of all production areas, machinery, and equipment in the abattoir during night shifts.
  • Adhere strictly to all company hygiene, safety, and operational procedures.
  • Operate cleaning equipment safely and effectively, including high-pressure hoses and foamers.
  • Handle cleaning chemicals safely and according to manufacturer guidelines and company protocols.
  • Remove waste and debris from the processing areas.
  • Report any maintenance or safety issues to the shift supervisor promptly.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to complete cleaning tasks within designated timeframes.

Required Skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a cold, wet, and often noisy environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods.
  • Reliability and punctuality for night shift work.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work autonomously when required.
  • Understanding and adherence to workplace health and safety (WHS) procedures.
  • Strong work ethic and a proactive approach to tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an industrial cleaning role, particularly within food processing or abattoir environments.
  • Knowledge of HACCP or other food safety systems.
  • Current forklift license (desirable, but not essential).
  • First Aid certification.
