Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal to join our dynamic dispute resolution and litigation team. This role offers an exceptional opportunity for a talented individual looking to build a long-term career path within a top-tier firm. You will work closely with senior lawyers and partners on complex commercial litigation matters, gaining invaluable experience and contributing to significant cases. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of legal processes, excellent organisational skills, and a proactive approach to their work.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lawyers in all phases of litigation, from inception through trial and appeal.
- Conduct legal research and analysis using various legal databases and resources.
- Draft and review legal documents, including pleadings, discovery requests, and briefs.
- Manage and organise case files, documents, and evidence (both physical and electronic).
- Prepare witness and exhibit lists, trial binders, and other materials for hearings and trials.
- Liaise with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and third parties.
- Calendar and track deadlines, court dates, and other critical dates.
- Assist with discovery responses, including document collection, review, and production.
- Summarise depositions, transcripts, and other legal documents.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal in a law firm setting.
- Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with e-discovery platforms and document review software.
- Familiarity with Queensland court procedures and rules.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- A genuine interest in commercial litigation and dispute resolution.
