Job Description
Are you a passionate science student eager to gain hands-on experience in a leading global food and beverage company? Nestlé Australia is offering an exciting Science Student Placement within our Quality Control Laboratory in Parramatta. This placement provides a unique opportunity to apply your academic knowledge in a real-world manufacturing environment, contributing directly to the quality assurance of our beloved products. You will work alongside experienced professionals, learning critical laboratory techniques, quality management systems, and the importance of precision and compliance in food science. Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the preparation and analysis of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
- Performing various laboratory tests, including physical, chemical, and microbiological analyses, according to established procedures.
- Accurately recording and maintaining laboratory data, ensuring traceability and integrity.
- Supporting the calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Participating in quality investigations and problem-solving initiatives.
- Adhering to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines.
- Contributing to a safe and clean working environment.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific field.
- Basic understanding of laboratory principles and safety procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data recording.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior academic laboratory experience, particularly in analytical or microbiological testing.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, HACCP).
- Knowledge of basic statistical analysis.
- Enthusiasm for the food and beverage industry and quality assurance.
