Job Description
Are you an early bird with a passion for working outdoors and a desire to learn new skills? Brownes Dairy is seeking a motivated and reliable Dairy Shed Assistant to join our team in Canning Vale. This entry-level role is perfect for individuals looking to kickstart a career in agriculture, offering comprehensive on-the-job training in all aspects of dairy farming. You’ll be involved in the daily operations of our dairy shed, ensuring the health and welfare of our herd and contributing to the smooth running of our farm. Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with the milking of dairy cows in an efficient and humane manner.
- Cleaning and maintaining the dairy shed, milking equipment, and surrounding areas to high hygiene standards.
- Monitoring herd health and reporting any concerns to the farm manager.
- Assisting with moving cows to and from the milking shed.
- Performing general farm duties as required, including light maintenance and upkeep.
- Adhering to all animal welfare and safety protocols.
Required Skills
- Reliability and punctuality, especially for early morning shifts.
- Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform manual tasks in various weather conditions.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude and strong communication skills.
- No prior experience required; full training will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with animals or in an agricultural setting (even hobby farm experience).
- Current driver's license (manual transmission experience is a bonus).
- Basic understanding of farm machinery or willingness to learn.
- First Aid certification.
