Job Description
We are seeking a visionary Innovation Lead to join our Corporate Strategy team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in identifying, incubating, and scaling strategic innovation initiatives that will shape the future of banking at Commonwealth Bank. You will work closely with senior leaders across the organisation to embed an innovation mindset, explore emerging trends, and translate disruptive ideas into tangible business value. This role requires a blend of strategic acumen, project leadership, and a passion for driving change in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive innovation strategies aligned with the bank's corporate objectives.
- Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, market trends, and disruptive business models relevant to the financial services industry.
- Lead and manage a portfolio of strategic innovation projects from ideation through to pilot and potential scale-up.
- Facilitate design thinking workshops, hackathons, and ideation sessions to generate new solutions and foster cross-functional collaboration.
- Build and nurture relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, startups, and academic institutions to source and co-create innovative solutions.
- Establish metrics and reporting frameworks to measure the impact and success of innovation initiatives.
- Champion a culture of experimentation, learning, and continuous improvement across the organisation.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in innovation, corporate strategy, or product development within a large, complex organisation.
- Strong understanding of innovation methodologies (e.g., Design Thinking, Lean Startup, Agile).
- Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical capabilities, with the ability to translate insights into actionable plans.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in project management and execution of complex initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Technology, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or a relevant Master's degree.
- Experience in a top-tier management consulting firm or an innovation lab.
- Solid understanding of the financial services industry, including FinTech trends and regulatory landscapes.
- Experience with venture capital or corporate venturing.
