Job Description
Are you a talented and experienced Sign Maker with a passion for large format print? Signs Express Somerton is seeking a skilled individual to join our dynamic production team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in producing high-quality, impactful signage solutions. You will be instrumental in bringing our clients’ visions to life, from initial concept to final installation, working with a variety of materials and cutting-edge equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain large format digital printers and laminators to produce high-quality graphics.
- Prepare and finish a wide range of signage products, including vinyl graphics, illuminated signs, banners, and vehicle wraps.
- Accurately cut, weed, and apply vinyl graphics to various substrates.
- Mount and finish printed materials, ensuring precision and attention to detail.
- Conduct quality control checks throughout the production process to ensure all products meet Signs Express standards.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment, including regular equipment maintenance.
- Assist with site surveys and installations as required, both independently and as part of a team.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) as a Sign Maker or in a similar large format print production role.
- Proficiency in operating various large format digital printers (e.g., Roland, Mimaki, HP) and laminators.
- Expertise in vinyl cutting, weeding, and application techniques, including multi-layer graphics.
- Strong attention to detail, precision, and a keen eye for colour accuracy.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
- A strong understanding of different signage materials and their appropriate applications.
- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW) for file preparation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with vehicle wrapping and application.
- A full, clean UK driving license.
- NVQ or equivalent qualification in sign making, print production, or a related field.
- Experience with CNC routing or other fabrication equipment.
