Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Risk and Safety Lead to join our team in Dubbo. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing and enhancing all aspects of risk management, WHS, and quality assurance within our aged care facility. The successful candidate will champion a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement, ensuring the highest standards of care and operational excellence. You will lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of risk management strategies, policies, and procedures, while providing expert guidance and support to staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive risk management strategies and frameworks.
- Lead incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant aged care standards, WHS legislation, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits, identifying potential hazards and implementing preventative measures.
- Provide training and education to staff on WHS, risk management, and quality assurance protocols.
- Oversee the continuous improvement cycle for safety and quality initiatives.
- Prepare and present reports on risk metrics, incidents, and safety performance to management.
- Foster a proactive safety culture through strong leadership and engagement.
- Manage and respond to internal and external audits related to safety and quality.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in risk management, WHS, or quality assurance within the aged care or healthcare sector.
- Strong understanding of aged care regulatory frameworks (e.g., Aged Care Quality Standards).
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective safety and risk management systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
- Proficiency in incident reporting and risk management software.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Risk Management, WHS, Nursing, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in Risk Management, Quality Management, or related discipline.
- Cert IV in WHS or equivalent.
- Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
