Job Description

Are you passionate about helping university students unlock their full academic potential from anywhere in the world? Curtin University, a global leader in innovative education and research, is seeking a dedicated and empathetic WFH Study Skills Coach to join our remote support team. This is a 100% remote position, offering you the flexibility to make a significant impact on student success from your home office. As a Study Skills Coach, you will empower students to develop effective learning strategies, manage their time, improve critical thinking, and excel in their studies. You will work with a diverse student body across various disciplines, providing personalised guidance and fostering a supportive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct one-on-one virtual coaching sessions with university students to assess their academic needs and develop personalised study plans.
• Facilitate online workshops and group sessions on essential academic skills such as essay writing, research, critical analysis, time management, exam preparation, and presentation skills.
• Develop and update engaging study resources, guides, and online modules to support student learning.
• Provide constructive feedback on student assignments and drafts, focusing on skill development rather than proofreading.
• Collaborate with academic staff and student support services to ensure a holistic approach to student success.
• Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress.
• Stay current with best practices in academic coaching and online learning methodologies.

Required Skills

• Proven ability to coach and mentor students effectively, with a strong understanding of adult learning principles.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying complex ideas clearly and empathetically.
• Proficiency in using online collaboration tools and virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, learning management systems).
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple student cases and priorities independently.
• Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to support student growth and confidence.
• Ability to adapt coaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of a global student population.

Preferred Qualifications

• A Master's degree in Education, Counselling, Psychology, or a related field.
• Previous experience (12 months+) in academic coaching, tutoring, teaching, or student support services within a higher education setting.
• Familiarity with the academic demands and common challenges faced by university students.
• Experience in developing online educational content or facilitating virtual learning environments.
