Job Description

Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior chefs in the preparation and cooking of dishes across various kitchen sections (e.g., hot kitchen, cold larder, pastry).
- Learn and master fundamental cooking techniques, knife skills, and mise en place.
- Ensure strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen stations, equipment, and utensils.
- Receive and store deliveries, rotating stock as per FIFO principles.
- Follow recipes and production schedules accurately under supervision.
- Actively participate in kitchen training sessions and continuous learning initiatives.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of kitchen operations or a strong desire to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Basic communication skills.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift moderate weights.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a vocational culinary program or certificate (e.g., Cert III in Commercial Cookery) or currently enrolled.
- Prior experience in a kitchen environment, even in a non-chef role (e.g., kitchen hand), is a plus but not essential.
- Food Safety Certificate (e.g., Food Handlers Certificate).
