Job Description
Join the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) in Tuggeranong as an Information Outreach professional. This role is pivotal in connecting the community with the vast resources and information provided by ABC, ensuring our content reaches diverse audiences and addresses their needs. You will be responsible for developing and implementing outreach strategies, engaging with local community groups, educational institutions, and stakeholders, and acting as a key liaison to enhance public understanding and engagement with ABC’s public service mission. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive information outreach strategies to engage diverse community segments in Tuggeranong and the broader ACT region.
- Organize and facilitate community engagement events, workshops, and presentations to promote ABC content and initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local community leaders, educational institutions, government agencies, and not-for-profit organizations.
- Gather feedback from the community to inform content development and outreach efforts, ensuring relevance and impact.
- Prepare and disseminate informational materials, including brochures, newsletters, and digital content, to key stakeholders.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of outreach activities, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Represent ABC at local events and forums, articulating its public service values and offerings.
- Collaborate with internal ABC teams, including content creators, marketing, and corporate communications, to align outreach efforts.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in community engagement, public relations, or outreach roles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with various stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and execute community events and presentations.
- Proficiency in using digital communication tools and social media platforms for outreach.
- A deep understanding and appreciation for public service broadcasting and its role in society.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experience working within a media organization or government agency.
- Familiarity with the demographics and community landscape of Tuggeranong and the ACT.
- Project management skills and experience with CRM software.
- Ability to speak a language other than English relevant to multicultural communities in the ACT.
