Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced IT Asset Manager to join our dynamic team in Launceston. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of IT assets, including hardware, software, and licenses across our extensive enterprise environment. This role is critical in ensuring compliance, optimizing costs, and maximizing the value of our IT investments. You will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing robust IT asset management strategies, policies, and procedures to support Telstra’s ongoing technological advancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain IT asset management policies, processes, and procedures in alignment with industry best practices.
  • Manage the complete lifecycle of IT assets from procurement to disposal, including tracking, inventory, and status changes.
  • Ensure compliance with all software licensing agreements and hardware warranties, performing regular audits and reconciliations.
  • Negotiate with vendors and suppliers for IT asset purchases, renewals, and maintenance agreements to achieve optimal value.
  • Prepare and analyze comprehensive IT asset reports to identify cost savings opportunities, optimize utilization, and inform strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate effectively with finance, procurement, IT operations, and cybersecurity teams to integrate ITAM practices across the organization.
  • Manage and maintain accurate IT asset databases and configuration management systems (CMDB) to ensure data integrity.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in IT Asset Management (ITAM) or Configuration Management.
  • Strong understanding of IT hardware, software, and licensing models across various vendors.
  • Proficiency with ITAM tools and CMDB systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Flexera).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex licensing agreements and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with diverse stakeholders at all levels.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ITIL certification (particularly Service Asset & Configuration Management).
  • Certification in IT Asset Management (e.g., CSAM, CAMP).
  • Experience with large-scale enterprise IT environments and distributed asset portfolios.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices related to asset management and risk mitigation.
