Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Marine Labourers to join our dedicated team at our Hastings boat yard. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals with no prior experience in the marine industry but possess a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a passion for working outdoors in a coastal environment. You will play a crucial role in supporting various boat yard operations, ensuring the smooth and efficient maintenance, repair, and preparation of a diverse range of vessels. This is a hands-on role where safety and teamwork are paramount.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespersons (e.g., shipwrights, mechanics, painters) with various tasks.
- Perform general cleaning and maintenance duties around the boat yard, workshops, and vessels.
- Prepare surfaces for painting, anti-fouling, and other treatments, including sanding, grinding, and masking.
- Operate basic hand and power tools safely and effectively under supervision.
- Load and unload materials and equipment, ensuring proper storage and organisation.
- Assist with the movement and securing of vessels within the yard.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Dispose of waste materials responsibly.
- Report any hazards, incidents, or equipment malfunctions to supervisors promptly.

- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Eagerness to learn new skills and follow instructions.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety principles.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in an outdoor or manual labour role.
- Current Australian driver's license.
- Basic First Aid certification.
- White Card (General Construction Induction Training).
