Job Description
Join Cleanaway as a Recycling Centre Sorter in Bendigo and play a vital role in environmental protection. This ongoing, full-time position involves the manual sorting and processing of various recyclable materials. You’ll work as part of a dedicated team, ensuring that waste is efficiently separated and prepared for further processing or recycling, contributing directly to a cleaner, greener future for Victoria.
Key Responsibilities
- Manually sort various recyclable materials such as plastics, paper, cardboard, glass, and metals on a conveyor belt or designated sorting line.
- Identify and remove contaminants from the recycling stream.
- Ensure sorted materials meet quality standards for baling or further processing.
- Operate basic machinery or equipment as required (training provided).
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Assist with general site clean-up and organisation.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve daily sorting targets.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for long periods, bending, lifting, and repetitive movements.
- Strong attention to detail for identifying different material types.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar manual labour or waste sorting role.
- Awareness of different recyclable materials and their classifications.
- Forklift licence (desirable, but not essential).
